When the Metro occupied this spot, it was a quiet little happy hour/post-brunch bar whose main draw was the balcony. Now the new owners of the bar now called the LookOut are regularly creating new event nights to keep it fresh. Different forms of music, drag shows, trivia nights, charity fundraisers, jocks in jocks with jell-o shots, and some of the friendliest bartenders in the Castro. I've seen go-go boys on pedestals, in showers, and in cages (though usually there aren't go-go boys at all). Love that you can order from the adjoining pizzeria from the bartenders, and still love the balcony (though the seats are getting ricketty and maybe should be repaired or replaced).

Weekend happy hour is the best!!

This is my new favorite place to go for a Sunday Happy Hour drink. The bartendars are great, the drinks are strong and ok on the price, the guys and gals there seem to have no serious attitudes which is a total plus, and most important~there is normally enough elbow room to go around, and it's always a good time there!!

OK for a weekday

This is happening to the folks who adore and who are trannies! The view was the best one I've seen amongst other clubs/bars in San Francisco. But it was still dead compared to Los Angeles' tranny clubs/bars. It was welcoming, though, by the tranny downstairs! The music and the decor was good, but the club having a view on the second floor was the best feature!

best bar in the Castro

Upscale neighborhood bar with no pretension, great views, quality drinks, and friendly service. On the second floor with floor to ceiling windows and a wrap around deck that provides some of the best people watching in the Castro. And the attached Thick and Thin Pizzeria is awesome!

Could be better.

I live a few doors down from the Metro but I rarely go there. For one all the red inside is just too much for the eyes and I never find a friendly crowd if there is a crowd at all. It draws in all ages but the type of crowd is not consistent. The balcony is a plus for smokers and people watching but beyond that I would not recommend it. I can't help but feel the Metro could be so much more.
