THE best place to people watch!

Great windows to sit and people watch. The beers weren't that cheap, and the first waiter had PLENTY of attitude! Still, the windows gave great views to the pedestrians out front, so it's a great place to people watch. Didn't eat here, so cannot comment on the food.

Good for people watching....

... but not the kind of bar to draw you in and make you sad to leave. Seems to have its regulars and the food isn't the best. If nothing else, a great view over the gayest four corners of the universe.

It also has expencive food at half the price, weak drinks, and they just spent gads of money removing what little chame it had left. But if you want a place to sit and mindlessley look out a window.... This is the place to go!

Great place for weekend breakfasts

Breakfast here on the weekend is a real treat. The food is great, the cocktails even better, friendly service, and if you can, get a window seat and watch the Castro go by. A truly great place to spend a relaxing, slow-paced breakfast, with the ultimate in people watching. You can even get a little (or a lot!) of flirting in as an extra added bonus.

A lovely meeting spot... for me to * on!

No, no, seriously, please. This is a fine establishment. This has a long history, from something before the Elephant Walk, to the Elephant walk, to something after, to a burned out hulk of a restaurant, to what it is now: a bar that serves food even the waiters are ashamed of. Come here for the outstanding view of 18th and Castro (aka Gay Mecca), not the "fresh" fish and burgers.

A pleasant place for lunch or brunch

I've only been here as a diner, but this is actually one of my favorite lunch spots in the Castro. The food is not spectacular -- the portions are on the small side and the sandwiches are better than the salads -- but the banks of large windows make for a bright, sunny place to relax and watch the crowds pass by. There are some seriously fine waiters here as well.
