The San Francisco LGBT Community Center will hold its 10th Anniversary celebrationSoiree 10 la mode franaise on Saturday, March 24, 2012, when the San Francisco Design Center Galleria becomes a decadent turn-of-the-last-century Parisian salon. Pariss Belle poque or beautiful era pre-World War I was a period of invention, optimism, style, rebellion and flamboyance. Soiree 10 will celebrate that spirit as The Center instantly transports you from SoMa to Montmartre. Think peacock feathers, cloche hats, cigarette holders, Zelda Fitzgerald, Coco Chanel, flappers, the can-can and Moulin Rouge! Step inside, and take in the sights and sounds of gay Paree: - Kick off the evening with host and local comedian Marga Gomez as vintage tunes are spun on antique crank-up gramophones by blues chanteuse (turned DJ) Veronica Klaus, then dance to contemporary club hits from SFs hottest DJs Hard French, Stay Gold, Viennetta Discotheque and Some Thing. - Enjoy a cabaret of the crme de la crme of Paris avant garde past and San Franciscos queer present, as Glamamore, Fauxnique, Honey Mahagoney and other performers from San Franciscos queer nightlife conjure the spirits of Josephine Baker, Mistinguett, Edith Piaf and stars of the Belle poque. Mingle with the fabulous and the fantasticalchat up a walking Eiffel Tower!as costumed performers Ernesto Sopprani, Persia, Hoku Mama Swamp and others roam the Gallerias hallowed halls. - Bid on big prizes at our silent auction, featuring all-inclusive travel packages, restaurant and spa gift certificates, beautiful objets dart, gift baskets, collectibles, and dozens of other unique donated items. - Drink from a full bar of cocktails, beer, wine, and soft drinks available at three hosted stations, and mange a selection of savory and sweet hors doeuvres from more than a dozen of San Franciscos finest restaurants.
