Hosted by the ever-gracious and fabulous Sister Roma, you are invited to join us for a fantastic cause: New York City's Ali Forney Center (www.aliforneycenter.org) is a shelter and services center which provides support and assistance to homeless LGBT youth. Their headquarters was destroyed by superstorm Sandy and rendered uninhabitable; they are scrambling to keep services going for the most at-risk youth in Manhattan. While they are temporarily sharing space with New York's LGBT Center, they await a new facility which is being readied for move in. This unexpected tragedy has been a huge financial disadvantage for an already struggling non-profit hit by city budget cuts. Our LGBT youth are our future; most of these young people served by Ali Forney Center have been kicked out of their homes for being gay or run away from abusive families. They travel from all over the country and world to New York City to try and find a place to fit in and be who they are. They go there for hope and dreams of a better life. Let's help these kids by providing them with the services they need: shelter, food, showers, medical care, employment and educational resources, and more.
Please come by Lookout to show your support for these awesome kids -our future leaders!- and for the Ali Forney Center who makes it possible.
