Ships in the Night
Ships in the Night is a radical queer dance party in the Bay Area, committed to providing a good time, amazing music, and community building through fundraising and spreading awareness of organizations and movements that fight for justice in our communities. ships has raised over $10,000 over the years for different groups and working class movement efforts. dance parties happen every first Saturday of the month in Oakland. Ships in the Night was started by Anita "Durt" O'Shea and Paolo Chico at the historic Gangway in the Tenderloin in San Francisco in 2006. Since then, the party has evolved into a huge scene, with many individuals involved. The party is sustained by its current crew of Durt, Macio, and Maren, but there are many folks in the ships family.
Double Duchess
With ferocious beats and playful narratives, the high-energy electro-hop duo from San Francisco met in 2009. Krylon Superstar’s years of international performance art and fashion genius brought d.a.v.O.’s years of emceeing, production and musical experiences to the stage once more. Together they’ve been heating up the national queer scene with their debut EP “Hey Girl!” along with their live interactive and theatrical performances. Their fresh, lo-fi, and raw sound of campy electro-hot transcends genres and genders, while the seasoned theatrics of these unforgettable divas will have you wishing you were as queer as they are.

Robert Jeffrey
Robert Jeffrey is a resident of the weekly Viennetta Discotheque at Underground SF, as well as Ms. White on first Sundays at Monarch. He has DJ’d all over SF, as well as NYC and Seattle, at such events as Bearracuda, Daytime Realness, HYSL, Fag Fridays and more.
M*J*R
M*J*R was raised to love music and dancing by a red headed Irish woman named Juanita. He is eternally grateful that many of his earliest memories include as background music: Art of Noise, Michael Jackson, The Pointer Sisters … He began DJ’ing in Boston in 2002 after co-founding the still extant Redtail Collective and Firefly Arts Collective. After moving to San Francisco 5 years ago, he fell in love with the vibrant underground music and event culture thriving in the city. M*J*R has been a core contributor to Comfort & Joy for many years, has assisted in producing BYOQ, Morning Glory, and Honey Dusted. Most recently, he helped create BAAAHS and bring it to the playa.
Bus Station John
Perhaps one of the most important DJ’s on the San Francisco gay scene in the past decade, Bus Station John has been the musical conduit for a huge cultural reawakening among younger queers. Called “the godfather of bathhouse disco,” he’s revered throughout the dance music world for his fastidious attention to party detail and his inimitable blend of rare ‘70s and early ’80s soul, boogie, garage, funk, Italo, Hi-NRG, and no-wave.
Adonisaurus
Since 2008, Adonisaurus has been twiddling knobs and making beats in a struggle of primitivism and futurism, Derek and Danyol, both keyboardists, share a love of well-crafted songs with solid melodies- songs that are accessible and wondrous, w. With each song, Adonisaurus breaks their melody and beats into a million pieces - on top of which are layered lyrics, their collaborative and improvised sound, and the meaning their craft creates. Building atop the structure of basic, infectious drum beats, the duo dresses starkness up in the energy of their lyrics.
