PROCESS | Siren Exposé-Death
---------------------------
Each year, the Siren Project selects a topic that women struggle with – particularly those that women face in isolation – and offers a creative, supportive space to uncover the lessons and teachings these experiences reveal. Siren Exposé invites women who feel called to the topic into creative exploration through Siren’s Theater and Wellness platforms.
2013 Exposé-Death is an "exploration and exposé" of the role death plays in our lives. Death is omnipresent in our lives but rarely talked about, discussed or brought up outside the personal or the intimate, specially in the Western/American culture. This year-long process draws out stories, experiences, struggles, transformations, needs and lessons learned as women deal with the reality and fear of death as part of living. Exposé-Death’s focus on the healing capacity of expressive arts provides a holding space for the range of emotional, spiritual and practical matters that arise when directly engaging death in the service of wellness.”
The topic was explored by 150 courageous women in a year-long collaboration of writing, story-telling, improvisation, acting, dance, art-making, ceremonies and community dialogues.
The all-women cast and crew of Siren Theater now present an experiential theater born out of 57 personal stories exploring humanity’s ultimate quest to make sense of life’s delights and dilemmas in the face of mortality. Death on the River Ganges is Siren Project’s 4th production.
