Join us on Saturday, September 21, from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm to work with the Parks Alliance to improve the trail through the beautiful greenbelt along Park Presidio Boulevard. We will be clearing unmanaged vegetation, widening the trail, hauling and loading woody debris into trucks, and edging (no, it’s not what you’re thinking), all in an effort to improve public access to the path. The Parks people are identifying additional tasks for us. Gloves and all tools, including loppers, will be supplied – we know how some of you love loppers.
ATTIRE: We are advised that boots, long pants and long-sleeve shirts may be best since a lot of hauling of vegetation is involved. Think layers.
SNACKS & DRINKS: Water and snacks will be provided; the Parks Alliance asks that you bring reusable water bottles. Bring your own coffee!
LOCATION: We’re meeting at 250 Funston Avenue, between Clement Street and California Street. Map: https://maps.google.com/maps?q=250+Funston+avenue&hl=en&sll=37.78352,-122.471981&sspn=0.012125,0.019205&hnear=250+Funston+Ave,+San+Francisco,+California+94118&t=m&z=16. Access via MUNI is fairly easy.
“The mission of the San Francisco Parks Alliance is to inspire and promote civic engagement and philanthropy to protect, sustain, and enrich San Francisco parks, recreation, and green open spaces.” The Alliance envisions a park and open space system that is accessible, beautiful, safe, clean and welcoming to all and that such a system enhances urban life.
