Femme4Femme Social – San Francisco
If You Build It They Will Come.
So. Are you a femme of any gender, who likes to date other femmes? Do you have lots of luck getting your femme loving on… or occasional luck… or NO LUCK at all?
We are two San Francisco based fat cis femmes and housemates - a QPOC poly hard femme born-and-raised in Oakland, and a white femme born-and-raised in Philly. We talk A LOT about the challenges of finding and dating other femme-amorous femmes. We think there’s a lot of stuff going on in our queer communities that makes this hard. To name just a few: embedded misogyny and trans-misogyny in queer communities, the devaluing of femme gender and desire, and a lack of visible femme/femme romantic pairings.
So what’s our solution to many late-night, frustrated discussions on this topic? Invite as many femme-amorous identified folks into one room as possible. What do you think? Do you want to join us for a discussion and femme4femme social?
We do not envision this as a make-out / sex party, as we hope to encourage attendance among a variety of folks with different comfort levels and preferences. Plus, we don’t want to center this particular conversation of femme/femme desire around sex only - but also around ways to date, network, connect and build romantic relationships with one another.
We are hosting a gathering on Sunday afternoon, April 6th at the San Francisco Library Main Branch from 1-4pm. The Sf library is a ADA compliant accessible space located near civic center Bart stop in SF.
Although the two of us are getting the ball rolling on this particular event, we see this as a collective conversation and group-driven gathering. We want this space to be an inclusive space for as many femmes as possible, so having analysis around race, class, gender, trans* / cis experiences, size/fatphobia, and disability/ableism is necessary. And actually not just analysis – an understanding and sensitivity that we hope for a mixed space re: race, size, gender, ability, etc.
Also, we’re not going to be defining what femme means for you, or us, or anyone. If you don’t explicitly ID as femme, but feel aligned in some way with this gender, please come join the conversation. We realize gender is complicated!
Please post potential conversation topics!
