Hands-On Demos with Bay Area Science Festival in the East Pavilion (Level 1):
6:00-10:00 pm, Join Bay Area Science Festival for hands-on demos including:
- YEAST STATION, hosted by White Labs featuring a microscopic viewing of beer yeast
- SUGAR STATION, hosted by SF Brewcraft featuring grape and wort tasting
- FERMENTATION STATION, hosted by Pacific Brewing Laboratory and Seven Stills with a close-up look at fermentation and barrel aging. Learn how Pac Brew Labs and Seven Stills worked together to make a whisky out of beer components.
- AGING STATION, hosted by Pacific Brewing Laboratory and Seven Stills
- BODY AND BRAIN STATION, hosted by UCSF. After you’ve sipped and sampled, don a pair of “beer goggles” and learn about the effects of alcohol on the brain with neuroscientists.
Speakeasy in the Coral Reef (Lower Level / Aquarium):
6:00-10:00 pm, Lounge among the fishes while sipping libations at a pop-up speakeasy.
Learn about Toxins by the Project Lab (Level 1):
6:30-9:00pm, Meet Dr. David Blackburn and members of the Academy’s herpetology team to learn about the surprising ways that toxins found on the skin of amphibians impact biodiversity.
DJs in the Piazza (Level 1):
6:00-10:00 pm, Let your inhibitions run wild with a disco-driven DJ set by Go BANG!
21+ event, ID required for entry.
NOTE: The 4-story Rainforest exhibit closes at 7:45pm and planetarium passes are distributed to visitors on a first-come first-served basis. Special programs and lectures may have limited seating and admission will also be made available to visitors on a first-come, first-served basis.
