NightLife LIVE Performances in the East Garden::
7:45-8:30 pm, Check out opening act Kacey Johansing, bringing a sweet blend of pop and rock to her hometown stage.
8:45-9:45 pm, Catch a live set by Oakland’s own Rogue Wave as they play hits from their most recent release Nightingale Floors (Vagrant Records).
NightLife LIVE Art Installation in the East Garden::
7:30 pm, Immerse yourself in an exhibit by Gabriel Fontanillo and Leyre Montes as you shrink among larger-than-life ocean sculptures to become a part of this micro-world presented on a macro-scale, illustrating the crucial impact humans have on these fragile ecosystems and the enchanting creatures that call them home.
Water-Centric Exhibits in African Hall (Level 1)::
6:00-10:00 pm, Explore interactive installations and exhibits that showcase the role that water plays in art.
"Hydroprinting" by Travis Johns: Explore ocean currents and tidal movements with a hydroprinting demo and take home your own custom hydroprint!
"Oceanic Scales" by Gene Felice: See what happens to the ocean when pH and temperature levels change.
"Water Instruments" by Edward Schocker: Hear how objects found in the water provide other-worldly acoustics.
“Speaking Tributaries” by Ana Labastida, Jesus Landin-Torres, Kate Lee Short and Sadie Harmon: Learn the fascinating history behind Sausal Creek to the Bay Area waterway and ecosystem.
Submerged Turntables in the Piazza (Level 1)::
7:00-10:00 pm, Check out “Submerged Turntables,” an installation and performance by Evan Holm featuring Karuna Holm—the name says it all, but you have to see it to believe it.
Datasurf in the Coral Reef (Lower Level / Aquarium)::
6:00-10:00 pm, Test your balance with “Datasurf,” an interactive surfboard challenge with Lyes Belhocine and Drew Detweiler.
21+ Event, ID required for entry.
Note: The 4-story Rainforest exhibit closes at 7:45pm and planetarium passes are distributed to visitors on a first-come first-served basis. Special programs and lectures may have limited seating and admission will also be made available to visitors on a first-come, first-served basis.
In the planetarium, take a cosmic trip through the sounds of space with a special presentation titled “Music of the Spheres” at 6:30 pm.
