Spinning the baddest all-vinyl girl group grooves, northern soul stunners and funky foot stompers this side of the '60s
with a live set by 60’s soul legend SUGAR PIE DESANTO
Hard French is thrilled to welcome Sugar Pie DeSanto, a 60’s soul icon who performed alongside acts like Etta James and James Brown, to the patio at El Rio. Having spent over 60 years on the stage, Sugar Pie’s wild live shows have become a thing of legend. At 78 years old she can still out-dance, out-sing, and out-sass anyone in the room. We play Sugar Pie’s 45s at every Hard French and now you get the unique opportunity to hear the real thing. They’re even making a documentary about her – check out the website to learn more about this living legend: http://www.sugarpiedocumentary.com/the-music/

This month’s beneficiary is The San Francisco Mime Troupe. The never-silent, always political San Francisco Mime Troupe has been performing free musical theatre in Bay Area Parks for over fifty years. This summer's show, Ripple Effect, uses humor, catchy songs and a kickass set to address the rising rents, gentrification and corporate culture that are transforming our city. Currently touring Northern California, the troupe will be back in San Francisco in August - performing in Glen Park on Aug 16, Washington Square Park on the 17th, Golden Gate park on the 30th and in Dolores Park on the 31st and September 1st.
