Whether you are Chinese American, Asian American, or other, we are all the same here. Our ancestors came in search for a better future for us, for hope. Many cultures and people have been oppressed and mistreated. Many have been taken for granted for the major contributions to America, for us – the future generations. For thousands of families, this symbolic gesture will be an emotional one.
We are hosting this fundraiser and others to build a proper monument as a lasting memorial in appreciation and honor for the Chinese railroad workers.
Let us bring you back to a proper era of gentlemen and ladies, an era of formality and mannerisms; a time where much was forbidden, where erotic dancers graced the underground stages for elaborate evening shows full of food, celebrity fame, and fun. Let us bring you back to a time where dinner shows meant multiple acts and the who’s who graced the best tables in the house.
Join us at this one-time only fundraiser as we invite you into an experience of a time long gone. Relive the time of the famous Flower Drum Song that was first a novel, later transitioned into a hit Broadway musical, and eventually became a popular movie depicting the struggles of being Chinese American.
Let us make this an event dedicated to recognizing and respecting the thousands of Chinese railroad workers who toiled to make the pivotal Transcontinental Railroad. Proceeds from this evening will be used to construct a monument in their honor in the Sierras, a gesture that should have been done long ago.
You can show your support, respect, and appreciation by attending this fundraiser. You may also sponsor the monument directly or make a direct donation. If you know a relative or friend who worked on the railroad, please contact us!
“Generations” is a live performance music tribute to the historic 1961; five Oscar nominated film Flower Drum Song. The film depicts San Francisco Iconic, Forbidden City Nightclub where the first generations of Asian American dancers and singers of the 50’s and 60’s entertained. Many of these performers were assumed descendants of the Chinese Railroad Workers. A special Life Achievement Award will be presented to actress Nancy Kwan, star of the Flower Drum Song and the World of Suzie Wong, whose ground breaking career helped open the door to the acceptance of actors of Asian Ancestry in major Hollywood film roles.
