Criminal Queers Bay Area premiere

Join us for the opening night of Outside the Frame Film Festival 2015 San Francisco with a screening of Criminal Queers. The event is free, however we will be collecting donations for TGI Justice Project (TGIJP), so bring that cash. The venue is wheelchair accessible. Emceed by the one and only Star Amerasu Doors at 6:30pm show starts at 7pm, get there early for a good seat. "Shit ManArchists Say" (2011) Rebecca Ruiz Sunwoo and Lacey Johnson's short film will also be screening. Criminal Queers visualizes a radical trans/queer struggle against the prison industrial complex and toward a world without walls. Remembering that prison breaks are both a theoretical and material practice of freedom, this film imagines what spaces might be opened up if crowbars, wigs, and metal files become tools for transformation. Follow Yoshi, Joy, Susan and Lucy as they fiercely read everything from the Human Rights Campaign and hate crimes legislation to the non-profitization of social movements. Criminal Queers grows our collective liberation by working to abolish the multiple ways our hearts, genders, and desires are confined.
