Guy Ruben
Guy Ruben is one of the hardest working DJs around. He has fierce taste in newer music, deep selections for classic records, and always comes with amazing energy and fashions.
Dishing out beats has been a calling for Guy Ruben since he was a kid as he took hold of the family’s stereo system. Fueled by everything from Madonna, Donna Summer, Depeche Mode, to Radiohead, the young music aficionado collected 12-inch records and pieced together mixtapes by recording songs directly off the radio. As he matured, so did his passion, perspective, and opinion on what sounds get people to move. After being inspired by seeing late ‘90s and early ‘00s legendary house music DJs play and some motivation from friends, Guy Ruben hit the dance floor hard in 2007, and has been entrancing partygoers with his unrelenting beats ever since. Now, he’s a tour de force in the SF club scene, and has held residencies in both Soma and Castro for years. He’s lent his seductive and edgy sound to countless parties around the Bay Area, recently in New York, Los Angeles, Toronto, and Seattle.
Few other DJ's bring such a cohesive and danceable mixture of contemporary heat and well timed classics all with style and grace. Influenced by the likes of Todd Terry, Danny Tenaglia, Riva Starr, DJ Dan, Treasure Fingers, Dimitri from Paris, Hannah Holland, Calvin Harris, Nita Aviance, Armand Van Helden, Eli Escobar, Basement Jaxx, Freemasons, and Cajmere. DJ Guy Ruben evokes all their spirits and interweaves DJ sets with his signature red telephone headphone. Specializing in house, Guy Ruben’s tastes cross all genres. He’s been known to seamlessly infuse his sets with techno, disco, indie dance, world beats, acid house, and R&B funk. Whether it's a party, a club, or a raucous bar environment, he constantly reads the crowds to give them a beat that's fresh.
