Ambrosia Salad's genesis into the dj world began when she was 19. She had never even put on a wig or lashes at that time. But had always been a music lover. Constantly making mixed CD's for everyone and taking charge of playlists at parties. A bedroom equipped with turntables, mixer, speakers, and party flyers covering her walls. However, in 2001 she sold every piece of equipment she had to move to San Francisco. Shortly after she would enter the drag culture that made her into the queen she is today.
For the next several years she would stomp her way onto stages across the country, becoming an established performer and party promoter. But it wasn't until 2012 that she remembered she once aspired to be a dj. So she decided it was time. During that summer she had a monthly party with her two best friends called "I Love Cochina Tonga's!" A cha-cha, pineapple soaked fusion of Carmen Miranda meets I Love Lucy. It was there that she debuted DJ Ambrosia Salad and fell madly in love with the art of musical crowd control!
Not long after she found herself djing queer parties in other states as well. Dickslap in Seattle, Blow Pony in Portland, and Fagbash in Provincetown, to name a few. And in 2013 picked up and moved to Los Angeles where she jumped right into the scene. While throwing parties of her own in LA such as Glory Box and The Cafeteria, she is resident dj at several other parties including, Queen Kong, High & Tight, and Trifecta. She still continues to perform and sometimes while djing you can even catch a surprise performance during her set. She is currently planning a series of parties in Atlanta, Georgia for their upcoming Pride Weekend. And is returning to play the queer festival Stargayzer, in Austin, Texas this October.
Luna Kay Bellaluna
Luna got her start in the summer of 2014 at Club High Fantasy. After playing there and The Lookout, she has returned to her home bar at the Powerhouse to play Monday Happy Hours. She blends lush symphonic disco with stripped down sounds of techno, nu disco, house, funk, neosoul and West Coast Hip Hop, on occasion. At the time of her upbringing in Long Beach, CA, Luna was heavily influenced by early 90’s house, Hip Hop, 80’s post-punk and classical ballet.
