Haunted Hall of Scientific Curiosities
(African Hall)
6:30-9:00 pm, Tour a haunted hall full of scientific curiosities curated by Suzanne K. Cobberly, MD and Jeff Haas of the Northern California Haunters Group.
Tip-toe your way through a human anatomy lab, Dr. Frankenstein’s Haunted Castle, a “toxic waste” dump, skulls galore, and so much more!
* Haunted Hall has limited capacity—available to visitors on a first-come, first-served basis.
Drag Show & Costume Contest
(West Garden)
8:45-9:45 pm, Come in costume for this annual Halloween bash and catch a drag show and costume contest hosted by hostess of horror and local drag queen legend Peaches Christ, along with "ghoul-friends" Chaka Corn, Sandra O. No-shi Di'int, Qween, and more!
Creepy Crawly Science Stories
(Science Today Zone)
7:00 pm, Ever wished you could raise an ancient dragon from the dead?? Part-time paleo-artist and full time evil wizard Brian Engh will walk you through the process in his talk about the science, art, and arcane magic of reconstructing dinosaurs and other prehistoric creatures.
7:30 pm, "Why Are Zombies So Hungry?"—learn about zombification from viruses with Mauricio Montano.
8:00 pm, In honor of all that is creepy and crawly, the Academy’s very own “ant man” Dr. Brian Fisher will break down the role of bugs in horror films.
The Skeleton Graveyard
(Project Lab)
6:00-10:00pm, Help the Bone Lab team bring the skeletons of a horse and a cow back to life and find the missing bones in the symmetrical bone puzzle.
Humbolt Squid Dissection
(Lower Swamp)
6:00-10:00 pm, Get horrifically hands-on with a Humboldt squid dissection!
Monster Makeovers
(Upper Swamp)
6:00-8:00 pm, Unleash your inner monster with face painting from Circus of Smiles.

Event attendees are encouraged to dress in Halloween costumes. For the safety and enjoyment of our guests, please keep these guidelines in mind:
- Costumes should not be obstructive, offensive or violent in nature.
- For the safety of all visitors, we ask that guests refrain from wearing masks or other items which obscure the face.
- Costumes should not contain sharp or pointed objects, or materials that may accidentally strike guests or exhibits.
- Costumes should not contain any elements which resemble or could easily be mistaken for an actual weapon.
- The California Academy of Sciences reserves the right to turn away any guest with a costume that we deem offensive or unsafe.

This is one of our most popular events of the year and often sells out. We HIGHLY recommend purchasing tickets in advance. Also, please note:
- Planetarium passes are distributed to visitors on a first-come first-served basis.
- Special programs and lectures may have limited seating and admission will also be made available to visitors on a first-come, first-served basis.

A variety of food options are available at NightLife from 6-9:30 pm, including the Academy Café, The Terrace (located in the West Garden), and convenient food cart in the front lobby.
Enjoy a new seasonal "craft on draft" cocktail at each NightLife bar, designed by resident mixologist Shane McKnight. Plus, enjoy a weekly menu of beer, wine, and spirits.
