The theme of this year's Transgender Day of Remembrance is "One Foot in Remembrance, One Foot in Resilience." The music of violinist Agatha Varshenka will welcome us into the memorial service, which will feature speeches from community leaders, performances by local trans artists, and will culminate with an uplifting keynote from Janetta Johnson of TGI Justice Project (TGIJP) and TAJA's Coalition. Following the formal program there will be an opportunity to connect with each other over light refreshments and an additional outdoor remembrance ritual. We also invite you to bring cards, flowers, photos of lost community members, or other offerings to contribute to our memorial alter.
The restrooms at the LGBT Center are gender inclusive, the event space is wheelchair accessible, and we will be providing ASL interpretation and Spanish translation. El evento contará con traducción simultánea al español. If you have other accessibility concerns, please contact us at info@TDoRSF.org and we will do our best to accommodate your needs.
We would like to thank the San Francisco LGBT Community Center, the Transgender Law Center, Trans Employment Program TEEI, Folsom Street Events, TRANS: THRIVE, and Openhouse for their generous support of this year’s TDoR SF. We would also like to thank the City for lighting City Hall with the colors of the transgender pride flag in solidarity with TDoR on the evening of the event. Please consider making a donation of your time (http://www.tdorsf.org/volunteer/) or treasure (http://www.tdorsf.org/donate/) to ensure that this and future TDoRs are a success!
Finally, please help us spread the word by sharing this event (and our two excellent posters) widely!
