Fourteen Hills 22.2 Release Party!

Fourteen Hills Press is proud to announce the release party for 22.2, the spring issue of our biannual publication! There will be readings from several of our contributors, raffle prizes, wine and snacks at Alley Cat Books in San Francisco, so come out and help us celebrate! Featured readers and contributors include: BALITRONICA is a performance artist, cyborg poet, and queer sex radical raised on the Tijuana/San Diego border. Currently living in San Francisco, she recently earned her MFA in Poetry at Mills College. Since 2013 she has been touring with Guillermo Gomez-Pena and La Pocha Nostra as a member of the International performance troupe. JENNIFER CROSS is a writer, workshop facilitator, and performer based in Oakland, CA. She co-edited Sex Still Spoken Here (with Dr. Carol Queen and Amy Butcher), and her writing has been featured in Nobody Passes, Sinister Wisdom, The Healing Art of Writing 2010, make/shift, Visible: A Femmethology (Vol.1), and Best Sex Writing 2008. She is currently an MFA candidate in Creative Writing at San Francisco State University. HOLLIE HARDY is the author of How to Take a Bullet, And Other Survival Poems (Punk Hostage Press, 2014). She teaches at the SF Creative Writing Institute, SFSU, and Berkeley City College. She co-hosts Saturday Night Special and Flight of Poets, and produces Oakland’s Beast Crawl Literary Festival. www.holliehardy.com KRISTIN HATCH’s the meatgirl whatever (Fence Books) won the National Poetry Series in 2012, and her chapbook through the hour glass—poems about the soap opera “Days of Our Lives”—was published by CutBank Books. She lives in San Francisco. ALEXANDRA MATTRAW’s most recent chapbook lives at Dancing Girl Press, her latest poems at VOLT, and her most recent review at The Volta. Alexandra curates a quarterly reading and performance series in Oakland called Lone Glen, a project dedicated to celebrating all art forms. Her latest manuscript was just named a finalist at Nightboat Books, and her latest poems were just published in an anthology of women’s writing from San Francisco's Quaci Press. LINDA NORTON is the author of The Public Gardens: Poems and History (Pressed Wafer, 2011) a finalist for a Los Angeles Times Book Prize. She was awarded a Creative Work Fund grant in 2014. The poems in this issue are from a new manuscript called Wite-Out, a hybrid work of creative nonfiction and poetry addressing issues of race and intimacy, American history, motherhood and work. She is working on a third book, Dark White, a memoir of womanhood in her family. Her poem “The Pond Asserts Her Title” draws all of its language from the well of Walden. IDRISSA SIMMONDS is a fiction writer, essayist and poet. She is the recipient of residencies from Hedgebrook, Poet's House, VONA/Voices, and Bread Loaf, and is a 2014 finalist for the Commonwealth Short Story Prize and 2014 finalist for the NYFA Grant in Poetry. She is the 2013 winner of the Crab Creek Review Poetry Award. From Brooklyn, she has called Vancouver, Montreal, and Ghana home, and now resides in Oakland. She is forever Bernadette's kid and Brooklyn has her heart for good. EMILY WOLAHAN is the author of Hinge. Her poems and essays have appeared in The Boston Review, Volt, OmniVerse, Tinderbox Journal, The New Inquiry and Gulf Coast. She is Editor at JERRY Magazine and lives in San Francisco, where she teaches writing.
