Last year we celebrated marriage equality across the nation. But around the world LGBTIQ people are too often deprived of even the most basic human rights.
OutRight Action International, formerly the International Gay and Lesbian Human Rights Commission, has fought for over 25 years to make the world a safer place for LGBTIQ people. Join OutRight on June 9 as we hear from the frontlines of the fight for LGBTIQ equality in Iraq.
Speakers include special guest Alex, a gay Iraqi refugee, who will discuss the challenges facing LGBTIQ people in the Middle East. Also, Jessica Stern, OutRight’s Executive Director just returned from meeting with our partners in Iraq and will talk about the threat of ISIS to anyone who doesn’t conform to the strictest norms around gender and sexuality.
Join us as we enjoy cocktails at the home of our incredible supporters Sal Giambanco & Tom Perrault and have these crucial conversations.
When: Thursday, June 9th from 6.30-8.30pm
