El espíritu de la colmen (THE SPIRIT OF THE BEEHIVE)
Widely regarded as the greatest Spanish film of the 1970s, Víctor Erice’s spellbinding The Spirit of the Beehive (El espíritu de la colmena), is a visually poetic, haunting, and allegorical film on innocence, illusion, and isolation and one of the most cinematic arresting films ever made. The Spirit of the Beehive is a deceptively lyrical tale of idyllic childhood memories and a disturbing portrait of isolation. Like the bees in Fernando's experiments, the children are also unwitting subjects of an unnatural, artificial environment. Produced as Franco’s long regime was nearing its end — a bewitching portrait of a child’s haunted inner life.
JERKS DON'T SAY FUCK
It's my greeting for the 50th anniversary of my motherland. Jerks Don’t Say Fuck. This is not a place where you can speak freely. There must be somebody monitoring you from a dark corner. Just like me: talking nonsense.
