Playa in the Grove

Comfort & Joy is teaming up with the National AIDS Memorial Grove to celebrate its 25th anniversary and bring San Francisco a fabulous afternoon of art, music, connection and picnicking festivities! The Grove is the perfect setting for celebrating our queer community as we honor our past and envision our future. This special gathering will feature gorgeous interactive art by Chickpea, Bob Burnside, Steve Dudek, Frank Eddy, Neon, Noodles, Dev Ray, Bill Samios, Rob Vedar and Jason Smart, along with delightful daytime dance music by DJs Bus Station John and Trever Pearson, performers, tarot card readings by Avis, and more. Playa in the Grove is FREE for all. We’ll also be hosting a delicious potluck, so please bring your best casserole or covered dish, your own libations (BYOB), blankets, park fun (flagging, hoops, massage oil, etc) and love. In the spirit of queer burner community, later that same day at 9pm our dear playa friends the Glamcocks and BAAAHS will also be supporting the National AIDS Memorial Grove's 25th anniversary by collecting donations for the Grove at their free party *Desert Dreams* at Mighty. *** Comfort & Joy is a non-profit whose mission is advance queer values both at Burning Man and globally by building community and creating spaces celebrating art and creative expression. Active for over 15 years, Comfort & Joy has encouraged and sponsored many Bay Area queer artists to help bring forth their playful, provocative and creative pieces to Burning Man and San Francisco ***
