Statement from the Artist: “Using the manipulation of images now possible with digital imagery, I have transported today’s adult industry into a fabricated historical context. I have taken some well-known work, and some not so well known, and remastered them. This series began when I was learning Photoshop some years ago. I wanted to see what the work of Jean-Léon Gérôme, the nineteenth century French academic painter, and Henri Magrite, the Belgian surrealist, might have looked had they been gay. Soon discovered that Photoshop can change the way we see our sexuality by putting it in the context of the world the masters created. I had a lot of fun doing it." Ken Ireland.
