What to Bring:
A volleyball, soccer, football, frisbee, kite, hula hoops, music instruments, beach games, any toys you like to play with.
Bring beach chairs or beach blankets and warm clothing that you can sit around the bonfire with, and marshmallows, crackers and sticks to make smores over the fire.
You can bring wood for the fire, but only clean burning natural wood without nails or artificial ingredients.
You can share, but please bring your own food, drinks and trash bags. Please help clean up so we leave nothing behind.

Hi Everyone! The beach bonfire is this Saturday. This is a quick update to help make this a great fun and safe experience for everyone.
Ocean Beach:
This is an invite to come enjoy a day at the beach, not a hosted or organized event. Ocean Beach is a huge public beach, so people can naturally come and go as they like. A couple of us bring wood for the fire pit near stairway 17. It's a public beach, so we welcome anyone who wants to come share the warmth of the fire light. It's not a crazy party or rave, and the bonfire's not big, so it's great way to relax, celebrate and enjoy the last days of summer together with family and friends, old and new. We had fun and met so many wonderful people last year.
Weather & Clothing:
Saturday's weather forecast shows Party Cloudy/Sunny in the high 60's. Hopefully this will give us nice coverage at the beach, but bring sunscreen and dress in layers to be prepared for different climates in San Francisco. Shorts, T-Shirts, Hats and Sunglasses are great for a nice warm beach day, but bring warm clothes, jackets and blankets in case it gets chilly for the bonfire at night. You can bring toys and games to the beach, but leave all valuables at home.
Food, Drinks, Cleanup & Safety:
Please bring your own food, drinks and trash bags to keep the beach clean so we leave nothing behind. It's ok share food and drinks with friends, but to be safe around people you don't know, it's best to eat and drink from store sealed containers and keep your drink with you at all times. Drink lots of water throughout the day to stay hydrated. The Beach Chalet is a great full restaurant with bathrooms right across the street. There's also a Safeway Supermarket at 850 Playa Street that is a 5 minute walk, just 0.2 miles away.
Meeting and Making Friends:
The best way to make friends, is to be a friend. Last year, as people arrived in singles or groups throughout the day, we just asked each other if we were there for the bonfire. Hardly any of us knew each other, so we just introduce ourselves, started conversations, and got to know each other. Some people brought games or interesting things to share. Some people started soccer, volleyball games or other activities and people joined in. Many of us stayed connected and are still friends to this day. With so much misunderstandings and divisions in the world lately, it's great to celebrate things that we have in common that bring us together, like hopes for peace, joy, love, fun, diversity, unity and friendship.
The Bonfire:
We'll take a group picture, then start the fire before sunset. You can bring some natural fire wood to contribute if you like, but nothing else should be burned in the fire. Someone asked if they could burn something personally meaningful in the fire. Try this: write down some wishes on a small piece of paper; something you want in your life / something you're ready to let go of / appreciation for things you're grateful for / a positive wish for someone. Toss it into the fire and send your wish out to universe.
Be happy. Share it. See you all soon :)
