in celebrating our vibrant LGBT community and our candidate for State Senate Scott Wiener!
As a gay man, Scott has worked for 25 years supporting our community, including playing a key role building the LGBT Community Center, supporting trans people, people living with HIV, and LGBT youth and seniors.
Scott personally understands the challenges facing the LGBT community. He fought to ensure that trans and gender non-conforming individuals and youth have access to healthcare. Thanks in significant part to Scott's work in partnership with the community, the City of San Francisco now fully covers trans surgical procedures and hired a surgeon specializing in trans healthcare.
Scott also understands that our community struggles with housing at disproportionate rates. He obtained funds to help educate LGBT individuals about how to access affordable housing, funds to expand Larkin Street Youth Services' Castro housing for homeless LGBT youth, and funds to support the LGBT center's homeless youth meal program. He also authored legislation to provide rent-controlled housing to long-term HIV survivors.
Scott is a strong supporter of our nightlife venues because he understands how significant these spaces are for our community.
So join us in celebrating our community and the years of hard work and leadership of our performers, community leaders, nightlife venues, as well as Scott Wiener's bid for California State Senate. Let's keep California queer!
