Micah Perks
Micah Perks is the author of a novel, We Are Gathered Here , a memoir, Pagan Time , and a long personal essay, Alone In The Woods: Cheryl Strayed, My Daughter and Me. Her short stories and essays have won five Pushcart Prize
nominations and appeared in Epoch, Zyzzyva, Tin House, The Toast, OZY and The Rumpus, amongst many journals and anthologies. Her new novel, What Becomes Us, come out in October with Outpost19. Excerpts of What Becomes Us won a National Endowment for The Arts grant and The New Guard Machigonne 2014 Fiction Prize. She received her BA and MFA from Cornell University and now lives with her family in Santa Cruz where she co-directs the creative writing program at UCSC. More details and work at micahperks.com.
Chase Joynt
Chase is a Toronto-based moving-image artist and writer whose work utilizes strategies of first person engagement to interrogate representations of gender and violence. Recently awarded the EP Canada/Canada Film Capital Award for Emerging Canadian Artist and jury awards for Best Documentary and Best Short, Chase’s work continues to be exhibited internationally. As a recipient of a Mellon Fellowship in Arts Practice and Scholarship at the University of Chicago, Chase’s recent speaking engagements include Harvard University, Princeton University, NYU, The New York Academy of Medicine, University of Manchester, UC Berkeley, and the Museum of Contemporary Art, Chicago. Chase holds a BA from the UCLA School of Theater Film and Television, and is a PhD candidate in Film at York University where he holds a Provost Dissertation Scholarship. His latest film Between You and Me will launch online as one of the lead projects for CBC’s new Digital Docs Series in June 2016.
Mk Chavez
MK Chavez is the author of several chapbooks, including Mothermorphosis, her full-length collection, Dear Animal, will be released by Nomadic Press in October 2016. Chavez is co-founder and co-curator of the reading series Lyrics & Dirges, and co-director of the Berkeley Poetry Festival, and recipient of a 2016 Alameda County Arts Leadership Award. Her most recent and upcoming publications can be found in Story Magazine, Jam Tarts Literary Journal, and Yellow Chair Review.
Paula Morales
Paula Morales (Guatemala, 1983) investigates the space between the analogue and digital worlds. As a visual artist she is constantly questioning images and their origins through colorful charged aesthetics. Her work explores nostalgic elements as well as modern cliches studying space as a subject, gendered space, and the gendered self. Currently exploring domestic experience, domestic space and linear time through the performativity of deconstruction through reenactments and popular Latino aesthetics. Her works range from installation, performance, new media, sound and video.
