HEXED on Friday the 13th. With KONTRAVOID Live The name Kontravoid belongs on a limited run cassette circa 1980-something, the type of tape buried in lost upstate dustbins of pre-MIDI analog electronics, wedged between Cabaret Voltaire and Das Ding. The dark industrial and new wave influences are strong on ex-Crystal Castles drummer Cameron Findlay’s project—his voice is scary, like an echoing underwater growl—but the underlying pop melodies always afford a degree of breathing room. Findlay has settled into a music venture he can call his own, assuming the identity of this alter-ego for what appears to be a permanent ride. DJ Dead Icons has procuced and been a DJ at countless alternative and experimental nights. Known as DJ Le Perv at DARK ROOM and guest spots at countless other parties, you are always going to here an eclectik and bass heavy set. Bryan Gibbs has a full production company, having been a member of musical projects as well (INHALT) and draws from a wide range of electronic based acts. A mixture of new and old trax, plus some rare and new remixes to create a greate experience for our patrons. HEXED will be bringling live bands quarterly. 1 band at a time and special guest DJs that will make you move. We are bringing the night back at The Knockout, and will keep you posted on new or different venues we will host the night.
