"In hidden basements, bedrooms and bars across London, Chemsex, is a documentary that exposes frankly and intimately a dark side to modern gay life. Traversing an underworld of intravenous drug use and weekend-long sex parties, Chemsex tells the story of several men struggling to make it out of 'the scene' alive - and one health worker who has made it his mission to save them. While society looks the other way, this powerful and unflinching film uncovers a group of men battling with HIV, drug addiction and finding acceptance in a changing world." - Written by Peccadillo Pictures

A big concern in the gay community today is the evolving development of the “chemsex” (better known in the United States as PNP – Party N Play) scene. These days, it touches nearly everyone and the effects can be devastating to those around and in the scene. Yet there are those in our community who have found ways to support each other in healthier, helpful and respectful ways.
Join the host organizations - Impulse SF and Shanti with several participating agencies in the Bay Area for a free full screening of the documentary, Chemsex. The film, co-directed by Will Fairman and Max Gogarty, takes a bold and candid look inside the lives of gay men involved in this scene of unhealthy drug and sexual addiction, taking them into health and life-threatening behaviors and actions. The film also spotlights the hopeful pioneering efforts of clinics like London’s 56 Dean Street and the staff helping men help themselves through their dependencies.
Following the screening, there will be a short insider discussion with director Max Gogarty and an open forum audience/panel dialogue with local Bay Area providers working in gay men and others involved with some aspect of this scene that manages to touch so many of us.
This is a 100% judgment free zone. Come as you are...
