Artist Statement:
My goal with these paintings is to linger slightly within small, insular moments of intimacy and human tenderness. Often our most fundamental and sacred connections eventually fade and become memories. By calling upon the powers of color and natural beauty, and visiting sentimentality via music, I am honoring these brief and fleeting moments. "In the springtime of his voodoo" explores gay intimacy, sex, fantasy, nostalgia, magic, nature, and human connection through a technicolor lens of "hyper romance.
More about the Artist:
Nathan Rapport is a California based multimedia artist working and showing in galleries and alternative creative spaces across North America. Nathan works as a painter, illustrator, designer, performer, director, and creates scenic work for a number of producing theatres in San Francisco and Austin. In October 2015, Nathan released his queer adult coloring book "Last Night I Dreamt That Somebody Loved Me", receiving tremendous visibility and press for the project. In 2016, he launched a queer focused line of wearables and fine art, and continues to nurture this project. Currently Nathan lives in Los Angeles, and works full time creating visibly queer, sex positive art.
