The Art at Strut program has been exhibiting the work of a local Gay or Queer artist once a month for over 13 years, it has always been an important part of Magnet, and we are thrilled when we get to exhibit the work of an international aritst and connect futher with the global gay community.
Daniel Arzola is the creator of "No Soy Tu Chiste." the "I'm Not A Joke Project." a serie sof 50 posters that became the first viral Venezuelan Pro QLGBT rights campaign to reacch five continents and be translated into 20 different langauges. Arzola's work has been reviewed by press from countries all over the world including Al Jazeera, The Huffington Post, Out Maganzine, and The Advocate. Arzola participated in Madonna’sproject Art for Freedom, and was the only artist to have five of his works selected for the project’s global release; two of those works were selected by Katy Perry. Madonna went on to endorse Arzola on Twitter. His work has spread to major universities across North and South America, including Amherst College, Northwestern University, Xavier University, University of Georgia, University of Albertaand Universidad Simón Bolívar.
Arzola won the Human Rights award 2016at the International Queer and Migrant Film Festival of Amsterdamfor his theory of Artivism and the impact of his work.Arzola’swork can be found in the first LGBT metro station in Latin America, the Carlos Jáuregui station in Buenos Aires, which has a fourteen-meter mural, multiple rainbow stairs, and six artworks on the balconies of the station, being the first permanent exhibition of Arzola. Daniel was the creator of PrideBags 2017for Gay Star Newsin London, this was he first time a graphic artist creates the image, in previous years was created by Sir Ian Mckellen, Sharon Osbourne and Jean Paul Gaultier. In may 2017 Daniel Arzola collaborated with TheLGBT Center (New York)and created #BeTrueToYou a campaign to promote their substance abuse treatment program. The artworks can be foundin each of five New York subway cars. Arzola is currently working on an animated project to be presented on June 22 atthe Trailblazer Honors eventof Logo TV.Daniel had to leave Venezuela in 2013 due to persecution and death threats for his work. He currently resides in Santiago de Chile

The Art Opening starts at 8 PM sharp, and will go till 10 PM. Free drinks and light snacks will be provided.
