Our local pride begins with Michael Stabile presenting his short film Smut Capital of America. In 1970, San Francisco became the first city in the country to effectively legalize pornography, turning the city into a boomtown for sex. Featuring John Waters, Kathryn Reed, Don Romesburg, Habib Carouba, Jeffrey Escoffier, Marty Rosenthal, Vaughn Kincey, John Karr, this documentary explores the people who fomented this cinematic revolution and made a fortune changing the way Americans thought about sex.
