Julie Brown Bio
Julie started her career at the American Conservatory Theater in San Francisco and was soon performing in nightclubs where she was spotted by Lily Tomlin and given her first role (and SAG card) in âIncredible Shrinking Woman.â Julie then moved to LA where she was a regular in Evening at the Improv and was soon doing frequent guest appearances on television when she decided to add âsingerâ to her resume. She released an album âGoddess in Progressâ which contained the hits âHomecoming Queenâs Got a Gunâ, âI like âme Big and Stupidâ and âCause I'm a Blondeâ, and âEarth Girls Are Easyâ - then went on to write and star in the movie version of the song.
One of her favorite roles is Medusa, in âMedusa Dare to be truthfulâ her spoof of Madonnaâs âTruth or Dareâ for which she received a Cable Ace Award and the Writerâs Guild Award, which led to her own MTV show âJust Say Julieâ, and another Showtime special âAttack of the 5â2â womenâ, for which she was also nominated for a Cable Ace.
She went on to play Ms. Deemer, the gym teacher in the movie and TV series âCluelessâ, starred in âThe Edgeâ for Fox television and created âStripmallâ for Comedy Central.
Julie has guest starred on tons of shows including,âC.S.Iâ, âWizards of Waverly Placeâ, and âFrom Here on Outâ (soon to be seen on Here TV) as well as co-creating the wildly successful TV movie, âCamp Rockâ (starring the Jonas Brothers) for the Disney Channel-where she was also featured as Dee LeDuke, the campâs super enthusiastic counselor.
This winter Julie will be starring in an original movie for the ION channel, called âDear Santaâ which sheâs super excited about because sheâs âalways wanted to be a god damn Christmas movie!â
Recently she toured the country singing songs from her album,â Smell the Glamourâ, as well as getting to play Paula Norwood on ABCâs âThe Middleâ and working as a consulting producer (and once again playing the gym teacher!!) on ABC Familyâs hit show, âMelissa and Joeyâ.
