SHUT UP AND DRAW Returns!
Join us one more time for an evening of relaxing, chill artistic exploration. This upcoming Shut Up and DRAW will feature the legendary Justin Hall, who will present a FREE workshop on the art of creating erotic comics, titled "Sequential Desire," followed by a silent Shut Up and Draw session. All queer artists are welcome!
ABOUT THE WORKSHOP:
Sex and desire represent one of the great profundities and mysteries of the human experience, and great art should be made about them! How does the comics medium uniquely handle erotic content, using both text and image? How do cartoonists avoid cliches and cover this territory in honest and fresh ways? Can simply drawing vegetables in suggestive positions be profoundly sexy? Join cartoonist and scholar Justin Hall to find out.
This three-hour workshop will begin with a lecture and discussion about the artistry of erotic comics and how to create them, then proceed to a drawing and writing exercise using some salacious vegetables, and finally end with the participants having time to create their own work. This workshop embraces all genders, sexualities, and is entirely free! While itâs not required to draw graphic content, you must be comfortable with seeing and discussing it.
PLEASE NOTE:
Please bring your own paper and drawing equipment. Strut will have some back-up blank paper, pens and pencils for folks who need it.
