location is the main reason to stay here

this hotel used to be well known for the curious loiterers, but the management was notified that many were trying to use the hotel as a sex club, and security gate was installed. Not exactly wise or discreet to post on a public web site that you're using a hotel as a sex club....

I needed a drink to make it thru the stay

Actually several drinks. The place does have an ambience, actually a stale odor in every room. It is just so convenient to all of the bars in the Castro it's hard to think of staying anywhere else because of its location, but keep a drink nearby just in case.
