The Opal Hotel

(2 Ratings)
Downtown value and style
Located only eight blocks from the Powell St. and five blocks from the California St. cable car, The Opal is full of San Francisco style. This hotel is walking distance to Nob Hill, the Tenderloin, Theater District, and Union Square, and anything else you want to see in SF. Make sure to eat in the Mel's Diner downstairs, it's a SF institution.

Convenient and centrally located

We've stayed here 1/2 dozen times. Great location to Civic Center and close to theatre district. You can even walk to Union Sq or to Castro. Besides Mel's Diner there is a free continental breakfast in the lobby. The rooms are not pretty and kind of old and dated but the beds are comfortable and the rooms are quiet-no street noise. But if you are in SF you shouldn't be spending the days or evenings sitting around in the room. Get out and see the beautiful city.

Great Place to stay

We stay here whenever possible when we are in the city. It has the charm and look of an older hotel with modern amenities. The rooms are spacious the beds are comfortable. There is a movie theater next door and a Mel's Diner on the first floor. They have off street secure parking and plenty more thing to give that home away from home feeling!!!
