Start point: Cupids Span at Rincon Park. We will leave there quickly, so be on time!!
It's that time again! April 16, the Decentralized Dance Party returns to the streets of SF.
The DDP will always be free and open to everyone. However, it is an expensive project and unfortunately I am not in a position to fund it out-of-pocket any longer. You can help us buy batteries and boomboxes by donating here: https://www.tilt.com/tilts/decentralized-dance-party-sf-april-16-party

The costume theme for this Party is A Night At The Museum, to be inclusive of all types of museums, and all things you can do in a museum. Come dressed as your favorite work of art, or an art thief. Come dressed as a triceratops skeleton, or a museum docent. Come dressed as a life-sized diorama of yourself. Go wild.

WHAT IS THE DECENTRALIZED DANCE PARTY?
The DDP is a boombox-powered participatory art project/80s-90s dance party/exploration of public space/life-changing experience/all-around good time.
We are attempting to bring the essence of Partying back to the People. Those who have attended one will attest that it is, without exaggeration, a life-changingly fun time.
Here's how you DDP:
1. Gear up: get a boombox. anything battery-powered with an FM radio will do - we'll all be tuning into the frequency broadcast from our Mobile Party Unit. don't have a boombox? no problem, skip directly to step 2.
2. Dress up: your best Party attire. Neon works. Burner gear works. Khakis and polo shirts... well... they work too. But they require extra enthusiasm.
3. Show up: meet at the designated Starting Location. We will not stay there for long.
4. Party Down: dance through the streets as we explore urban spaces en masse and bring some good, clean, rowdy fun to the streets.
This Party is all about creating and sharing as many unique and fun elements as possible- costumes, props, projectors, lights, sounds, smells, dance routines, etc. The only requirement is to get as crazy and elaborate as possible.
And so!
It’s up to all of us to blow the nuts off this Party and take it beyond Partying and beyond all comprehension. We must rally every ounce of strength, iota of energy, inch of audacity, and come together to create a Primeval Party Moment more powerful than all which have come before.
The necessary approach is outlined in our Party Manifesto: http://bit.ly/exgmki
ALL-AGES!
DDPs are hosted exclusively in public spaces and completely Open and we take pride in creating the most inclusive Party possible. EVERYONE, of every AGE, BACKGROUND and STYLE is welcome. People show up to DDPs with their kids and parents all the time. Techies, hipsters, artists, musicians, homeless people, lawyers, Google bus drivers, it's all good. The more diversity the better.
THE ELITE BANANA TASK FORCE!
We’re recruiting Ten Elite Partiers to round out our Elite Banana Task Force.
All ten will be equipped with banana suits in order to help us prepare the boomboxes, facilitate the madness and other Elite Party Tasks.
Want in? Send me a message.
ALCOHOL:
We DO NOT encourage or condone alcohol consumption. But if you choose to disregard the law and our heartfelt advice, please be discreet (e.g. pop bottles) and don’t ruin this for everyone else. Thank you.
Our alcohol policy is fully explained in the PARTY MANIFESTO: http://bit.ly/exgmki
RESPECT:
When we are Partying, be respectful of people and property and please don’t litter. We’ve worked hard to build a good name for ourselves and the DDP.
We've also maintained a good rapport with police forces across North America and because of this, they have always helped us out and allowed everyone to have a good time. It is essential that we maintain these things if we want to continue to do these Parties. SPREAD THE WORD.
GET A BOOMBOX:
To tune in to our Party Broadcast. You can find them easily at flea markets (like Laney College or Alemany) for $5-10. We will provide a few, but it’s first-come-first-serve and they always run out FAST and the more the merrier!
