Greens Restaurant

100% love it
Fine organic dining, bay view and so much more
San Francisco queer locals scoff at the Marina District, which is probably the most white and non-gay neighborhood in the whole city -- hyper hetero bars overflow with drunken preppy types. However, it is worth the trip across town to Fort Mason for what is without a doubt one of the great culinary experiences in a city chock full of them. Which is an accomplishment, considering that Greens is vegetarian only that is worthy of the nods given to Chef Annie Sumerville and to the wholesome delight of the savory fare. (Ask your waiter about her Greens cookbooks, which are sold at the restaurant and on the web site.) The location in a lofty warehouse building gives the dinning room an ethereal feel, and make sure that you request well in advance a window table, all of which overlook the Bay. Before heading to Greens, hike through the nearby Marina Green and Presidio Park to Fort Mason to Building A to build up a hearty appetite while enjoying the aquatic scenery.
