What we say
Gay urban "beach"
At the southwest corner of Dolores park, passed the hipsters near the tennis courts and the families by the playground, a natural grassy ledge (homo hill, the fruit shelf, etc.) rises, offering some of the most beautiful views of the city. Leave it to the gays to adopt this chunk of prime real estate. On a sunny weekend afternoon you'll find the area packed with sunbathers in speedos - just watch out for those "special" brownies and truffles being sold.

Love sitting in the sun reading on the grassy slope on the 20th Street side of the park. Locals call it the "gay beach," and it's fun to see all the cute guys lying out in their shorts (or underwear) soaking up the sun. And it also has an awesome view of downtown San Francisco.

i love to travel, but sometimes i find it hard to leave san francisco. there are so many adventures you can have right here, practically for free. one of them involves dolores park. this is what i suggest. after a saturday night of clubbing you meet friend for a restorative lunch that involves bloody marys and lots of protein. then gather your towel, water bottles and sun screen and some goodies and head to dolores park. reserve a space on the gay hill with your buddies. after cruising the guys, lay back and fall asleep amid the beauty. when you wake up after the power nap, have a snack and make some new friends. then, after a stop to change, head to the castro for all the sunday afternoon fun. it's a great time there cause that's everyone's last chance to make new friends--or, in some cases, to get laid before you return to the monday grind. sound like fun? sometimes you just have to say, it's good to be gay!

Great spot on a sunny day to take in the sun and boys who leave no spot untaken on the sunny top of the hill. Great view of San Francisco; and definitely plenty of hot yummy eye-candies. Bring a picnic basket and more; and you'll definitely have an awesome sunny day on the beach - just without the sand and water.

This is one of my favorite spots in SF. Yesterday the SF Orchestra had a huge stage set up, and they played a free concert. It was magical to bask in the sun while listening to a live professional orchestra. Regardless of the music though, the gay area is always a blast when its nice out.
So, what do you say?
