Love Castro - Love the Theatre and what it offers
Love to visit any show when I visit SF - Looking for friends when I visit
A big historic movie theatre
The Castro theatre is an iconic theatre located in the Castro area. The theatre runs classic movies and a few new movies. The theatre is two-stories with plenty of seats for everyone. You can also find varieties of film festivals such as gay and lesbian film festival and jewish film festival in Castro theatre. It also has live performances from celebrities such as Barbara Eden. The refreshment is pretty cheap, and you can get hot tea and hot coffee. Don't expect to find hot dog and chicken finger and nachos.
Best place for oldies
The iconic Castro Theatre is starting to show the occasional first-run films, but it's really best visited on a Friday or Saturday when they are showing a classic film. That's when the organist plays the wurlizer organ, always concluding with the song Jeanette MacDonald made famous, "San Francisco." Truly a special SF experience.
Classic
Went their last Saturday to watch Metropolis. Very nice artistic style and especially the architecture. Good place to go especially and watch the late night movie specials they run.
