roomy new dance club.
Walk upstairs and arrive at a roomy dance floor area with table seating around the sides.... Go up another 8 steps or so to another roomy area with pool table and a balcony view of the dance floor. The upper area has a really cool glass roof that slides open like a stadium to manage the temperature and cig smoke. There are three bars and I never had to wait more than a few minutes for a drink. My favlorite part was the dancers but I did go the friday of pride weekend, so they might be there just for the event.
Not what I remember or expected ...
I remember the bar that used to be in this location in the '80s & '90a as a comfortable place to get together with friends to talk and have drinks. Now it seems to have been transformed into just another dance bar, which is OK, I suppose ... and I love to dance. The lighting is garish and poorly done, but the dance floor seems to be well located and decent size considering the overall space available ...
I went on the wrong night . . .
Evidently, Friday nights are the night to go, but I found this out after going on a Saturday night (around 10:30, standard night). I liked the venue itself, but wasn't very busy. Very mixed men and women (and some women were definitely lesbians).
Awesome Latino night on Thursday's
I usually go to The Caf on Thursday nights for Latin night Pan Dulce. Is one of the few clubs where you can listen to Latin music most of the night. They have cute Latin strippers/go-go dancers and drink specials all night long. I always run into friends on this night and have a great time catching up with friends, drinking, and dancing. The bar was recently renovated and expanded, the bathrooms were relocated, and the sound improved. The drinks are moderately priced and the crowd is always up for a good time.
