Make it your usual spot!
My partner and I go here very regularly. that is like every weekend for brunch. It's a great spot ion the Castro with some outdoor and cafe seating and an indoor bar and seating. Waitstaff is friendly and efficient. The food is good and the menu varied. Go here!

Best meal in the Castro
A friend and I decided to have dinner here on a Sunday evening and was immediately in love with the outdoor patio and fireplace. The interior is a modern darker wood but stylish without overpowering and the lighting in the main room or patio is just right depending on your mood – romance or a great meal out. The menu had great choices with a focus on seafood, yet it wasn’t limiting and had a several options for seafood and non-seafood lovers. The wait staff was flirty and attentive (we’re in the Castro after all) and seemed to appear just when need each time – almost by magic.
We started with an appetizer of French fries tossed with Parmigiano reggiano, herbs with truffle aioli – yeah it’s all carbs and fats but GOD was it good. Moving to a warming French Onion soup and a special of carrot soup just made your feel all warm and fuzzy inside. The meal of Ahi tuna with risotto and a Halibut with greens and asparagus just topped it off. Each course was just enough and we still had a little room to share a warmed chocolate brownie with butter pecan ice cream.
This place is certainly worth the money and I’ll make many more visits in the future to enjoy one of the best meals I’ve ever had in the Castro.
Amazing seafood stew <3
Comedy of Errors
I was once in a restaurant in Charlotte where I swear to god the waiter said "I'll bearback for your Dessert" when clearing dishes. I cleared it up after a moment - he said "I'll be-right-back for your Dessert". So in Catch, I had the waiter misunderstand my food, and cause a halt to dinner - I received Steak instead of Salmon. I do speak English. Otherwise, the service was good, restaurant half-empty, and therefore not too loud, the Salmon was precision cooked but the fries I sampled were not crispy. Combined with my experiences in the past, it's usually a good restaurant, but not exceptional. You'll enjoy it.
Catch something else
I've eaten here a few times since it opened. A few years ago it was OK. The last time I ate there is was overpriced and mediocre - actually pretty bad. In a city where there are great options, I'd say this is more of trap than a Catch. Try the Anchor Oyster Bar or the Woodhouse Fish Company instead.
Felt very disciminated
So me and my partner go to have a nice bite to eat at Catch which has been talked up by several of our friends only to find out that the wait staff had a problem with my bear of a partner. The greeter thumbed his nose to us because we did not have the right look and sat us near the kitchen rather than near the outside as we had asked. Shame really as the food was nice. Never going again!!!
Catch-A-Britto
As an art aficionado, dining for the first time at the Catch along Market St. close to Castro was such a delight when two of renowned Brazilian-American artist Romero Britto's original paintings (as verified by the staff) are hanging inside the walls of the restaurant. The colorful paintings inside adds to the fine dining ambience complementing the excellent yet minimal menu of the restaurant.
My favorite is the beer-battered fish and chips. Hefty servings for a heavy appetite. The staff are amazingly attentive and nice. Only drawback is that the restaurant is such a hit that you have to make reservations or wait in the line. Well, that says it all in there...
I always bring out-of-towners here
I'm not a huge seafood fan, but whenever I have guests visiting from out of town, I invariably take them here. It's one of the nicer upscale restaurants in the Castro. I love the salmon dinner (it has a slightly orangy marinade). The eggs benedict for brunch is slightly different than other places ... and oh so yummy.
location, location, location
just got back from dinner drinks at catch with a friend. it was a balmy 70 degrees in the castro, so we were looking for a place to eat outside. it has a nice outdoor cafe seating area, covered but open to the market street eye candy. i had the salmon blt, which was delicious. my friend had the ribeye, which he loved, and we shared a bottle of good wine. the tab was a bit rich for what was a competent but not incredible mean, but we were paying for the castro ambience and the open air seating, which was really lovely...
