Orphan Andy's

(75 Ratings)
Sober up or kill a hangover
A Castro institution, Orphan Andy's fills up when the bars close. American diner fare 24/7 keeps the mo's coming back to this greasy spoon.

Wanted to like this place.

First, the place setting had food on the fork, had to ask for clean silverware. Then, link sausage was pink in the middle. Next, egg shells in my scrambled eggs. The pancakes were good :-)

Delicious hot food

The food at this diner is extremely delicious. The diner has lunch & dinner specials and biscuits & gravy specials. It also has 3 new additions to its menu. I made a mistake of ordering a Country Fried Steak & Egg in the Biscuits & Gravy with Root Beer Float. I was served two plates of food with tons of sausage gravy. The root beer float is served in a cocktail shaker. Everything is delicious and satisfying, but I don't want to eat anymore gravy.

Delicious Over Priced Late Night Food

I've been a regular at Orphan since 93. It's great conveniant after bar food. Maybe it's just the late night crew but the waiters tend to be in a mood for some reason or they just don't look happy, lol There use to be a lady that worked there for years she was great. I miss her. Maybe it's the rent that erks the food price but I've definitley had better for less in other S.F. neighborhoods.

Late night grab eat!

This place is just perfect for that late night snack - burgers are tasty and inexpensive. An example of what any 24hr quick grabs should be!

One of the best diner's I've experienced!

Open 24 hours. The food's basic but excellent. Service is friendly, efficient and quick. On 17th Street at Castro and Market. Literally bumped into Sharon Gless (Queer as Folk) last night while I was leaving and she was going in with friends. Wonderful woman! Anyway, I highly recommend this diner!
